Tonight I expected to be in the air over Africa. Unfortunately, which is a word I am using a lot lately, my flight to London was delayed and as a result I was to miss my flight to Cape Town. British Airways (remember that name when are looking to fly and avoid it) was very sorry and that they would put us up in a hotel in the middle of nowhere near the airport (another winner!). They have rerouted beginning at 4 PM tomorrow- Paris to Mauritius to JoHannesburg to Cape Town arriving at 4 PM on Wednesday. They are sorry that we lose the $250 for the first night at the TAJ in Capetown but they did call to tell them it was not our fault that we are late. Luck for us!
Anyway, I did losd the pictures from Monet's house in Giverny. It truly was an experience.
Going back, I believe that the last time I reported, it was Bastille Day.
By the way, the apartment we rented was great. It was spacious and comfotable and it was fun living in a neighborhood.Bastille Day was an experience. After the parade we walked around by the Louvre and the Garden of the Tulleries. I have never seen it so crowded. I don't thnk that I have ever seen it so crowded. We decided to catch a tour on an open-air double decker bus. It was really very good. We got to see the highlights at a good pace.
We went to the fireworks at the Eiffel Tower. We waited 3 hours and even three hours before we were uable to find a seat on the grass. There was a live band and much activity. It was fun to watch all the activity and people. The music was great. The fireworks went on at 11:00 PM and lasted for a half hour. The theme was great musicals. I thought that it was odd for the fireworks for the French independence celebration should be done to American musical shows like Hair, Sound of Music, Hello, Dolly and Singing in the Rain to name a few. Our view was obstructed(as you will see in the pictures but we had fun. The crwd leaving was unbelievable. We waited to take the subway and it took us more than 2 hours to get home.
Below are a few pictures of the things mention above. I will catch up with the rest in the morning.
By for now.
